Folia Tools is 43 free PDF tools that run inside your web browser. Your files are never uploaded, because there is nowhere for them to be uploaded to.

Why the files stay on your device

Most online PDF sites work by receiving your document, processing it on their servers and sending it back. That means your contract, your medical letter or your tax return sits on someone else's computer, at least for a while.

We do it the other way round. When you open a tool, your browser downloads the program that does the work. Your file is read from your own disk into your own memory, processed there, and handed back as a download. It never crosses the internet. Close the tab and it is gone.

This is not a promise you have to take on trust: you can open your browser's network inspector while a tool runs and watch that no upload happens.

Where it comes from

The engine behind these tools is the same one inside Folia for Desktop, a PDF studio built for researchers. It was written to run entirely on your own machine, which is exactly what a browser needs — so putting it online meant removing a wrapper, not building something new.

How it is paid for

Ads on the page, and people who choose to buy Folia. Because your computer does the processing, serving a visitor costs us almost nothing, which is why nearly every tool can be genuinely free rather than free-until-you-hit-a-limit — no daily cap, no watermark, no sign-up. The two AI tools are the exception: a model that size cannot run in a browser, so it runs on our servers at a real cost per document. Those two need an account and come with a monthly allowance — free accounts included — which Folia Tools Pro enlarges.

Two things have limits, and we would rather say so plainly than bury it. Very large files can exceed what a browser tab can hold — those are better handled by the desktop app, which has no limit. And AI features run on our servers because the models are far too large to send to a browser, so they are metered: every account gets a monthly allowance at no charge, and a subscription buys a bigger one. If you never use those two tools, nothing you do here is ever uploaded.

Who we are

Folia is the trading name of Morn Tithsinara, an independent software developer working from Cambodia. Not a company with a support department — one person, who wrote the engine these tools run on and who reads the address on the contact page. That is worth stating plainly before you decide whether to trust a website with a document: you can see who is answerable for it, and there is no investor behind it who will eventually need those documents to be worth something.

Nothing about your documents is sold, shared or brokered, under any commercial arrangement. That is an easy promise to keep and an unusual one to be able to make: your documents never reach us either, so there is nothing about them to sell in the first place.

Where the writing comes from

Every tool page here describes what the tool actually does to your file — including what it cannot do, and when you would be better off using something else. So do the 8 guides, which go further: why a compressed file barely shrank, why a black rectangle over a name removes nothing, what a conversion has to guess at.

All of it is written against the source code that runs on this page, and checked against it again before publishing. It is not researched from other people’s articles, which is why it occasionally contradicts them. Where something here is wrong, we would genuinely like to know — being caught in a plausible-sounding falsehood is the one thing this site cannot afford, since telling you the truth about your document is the entire proposition.
