How to fill or create a PDF form

What Folia writes into the file
The boxes you draw in Design become real form fields, not pictures of fields. Each gets a name, a widget rectangle mapped from where you drew it into the page's own coordinate space with the page's rotation applied — so a field lands where you put it even on a sideways page — and an appearance generated when the file is saved. Whoever you send it to can fill it in Acrobat, Preview, Chrome or Edge. Text fields are given a thin border so the person filling one in can see where to type, and a checkbox you tick while designing is saved already ticked.
A field's name is its identity and two fields cannot share one, so a second box you also call Name is saved as Name 2, and a box you never named becomes Text or Checkbox. Worth naming them deliberately if anyone will ever export the data. Both passes run on every save — the fields you drew are created, then every value on screen is written in and the appearances regenerated — so it makes no difference which tab you were on when you pressed the button, and emptying a field really does empty it.
What the browser editor will not build
Design authors two kinds: text fields and checkboxes. Radio groups, dropdowns and list boxes a document already has are read out, shown where they really sit and filled — a radio group is read button by button, so the right one ends up ticked — but they cannot be created here. A radio button only means anything as part of its group, and re-authoring one as a checkbox would break the group it belongs to.
Nothing dynamic, either. Folia writes plain fields: no calculations, no validation rules, no format masks, no scripts. A visible signature belongs on Sign PDF. And if the document is really a picture of a paper form, fields may be the wrong answer altogether — type straight onto it with Edit PDF text, or draw a tick with Annotate PDF, and skip the form machinery.
Questions
Can I stop someone changing my answers?
Yes — run Flatten PDF afterwards and the filled values become permanent page content.
Can I fill in a form in Korean, Chinese or Arabic?
Korean and Latin are safe: the appearance font Folia embeds when it writes your values covers both. Other scripts can come back blank, because a PDF form draws every field with one font and no single font covers every writing system. If a value will not render, type it onto the page with Edit PDF text instead, which switches face per script.
Can I reuse a form I built for several people?
Yes. Save the blank form once, then open that downloaded file again for each person and use Fill. Every fill produces its own PDF and the blank form stays as it was.
Can I delete a field the document already has?
No. Folia can add fields and set their values, but it does not remove fields that came with the document — taking the box off the screen does not take it out of the file. If you need one gone for good, run Flatten PDF, which turns every field into ordinary page content.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Every tool on this site runs inside your browser, using the same engine as the Folia desktop app. Your file is read from your disk into your browser’s memory, processed there, and handed back as a download. It never crosses the internet, so there is nothing for us to store, leak or hand over.
Is there a file size limit?
We impose none. The only ceiling is your own device’s memory, which differs from one computer to another — so we read what your browser reports about this machine and show the resulting limit on the page. Light tools like merge and rotate handle far more than heavy ones like OCR, which must render every page. For anything larger, Folia for Desktop has no limit at all.
Is it really free? Do I need an account?
Yes, and no. Every tool is free and unlimited, with no watermark and no sign-up. Ads pay for the site, and your own computer does the work, which costs us nothing. Signing in with a paid Folia plan simply removes the ads.
